There once was a person who wouldn’t leave a visit to New York without a stash of bagels for the road. Another who had a standing appointment for their nails to be painted red every Tuesday at the salon around the corner. Another whose apartment blared opera in the morning and 80’s rap at night. Now, the bagels sit in the freezer; the standing Tuesday nail appointment is taken by someone who chooses light pink; and the apartment is quiet. Such are the intricacies of abbreviated routine: Retraced chalk masterpieces disappear by drizzle or downpour, and fresh drawings materialize on the next sunny day.
